Training Courses

  • This course is suitable for students wishing to work with or to teach children from 2.5 to 6 years of age. It will give them a deep grounding in the Montessori Principle and Philosophy, basic understanding of child psychology, an appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids developed by Dr. Montessori, a knowledge of the Montessori environment and the role of a Montessori director and knowledge of the Montessori curriculum.

    It covers Montessori principal and philosophy, child development: the early years, childcare, health and nutrition, curriculum: mathematics, language, science, art and music, Montessori exercises of practical life, sensorial education, language, phonics and grammar, mathematics, cultural subjects: geography, botany, zoology, history and teaching practice.

    How long does it take to complete?

    Students are given two years to complete but can be complete quicker, depending on number of home study hours the student can undertake.  We recommend 7 to 10 hours plus 15 -24 hours in placement per week for those undertaking blended study.

    Additional entry requirements

    Students should have obtained at least 3 GCE O Levels (or its equivalent). They must also have a good standard of both written and spoken English. They must be at least 17 years of age.

    Mode of Assessment

    This is a blended course.     

    A practical examination – Montessori materials.  This is conducted by an external examiner from London

    Achieve a pass mark in practical examination

  • This is a certificate Montessori support teacher training program, also available in Greek

    It is suitable for learners who wish to take up a role as an assistant teacher in teaching young children, teachers and nursery owners who want to implement some method of the Montessori education in their classroom/centre, in the age range 2 ½ -6, through the Montessori Method of Education.

    Entry Requirement

    Applicants are assessed on their individual merits but must have obtained at least 1 GCE “O” levels (or its equivalent).

    They must also have a good standard of both written and spoken English.

    They must be at least 17 years of age.

    Mature candidates may be considered on a case-to-case basis.

    Aims 

    To provide learners with a detailed understanding of the Montessori Method of Education applicable to children in the age range from (2 -6).
    To prepare learners for taking up a role as an assistant teacher in a Montessori setting.

    Allow the Montessori Method of education to be implemented into traditional settings.
    To acquire a better understanding of Maria Montessori’s educational principles.

    To assist Montessori  teacher in developing a learning environment that will enhance the total development of young children.

    Demonstrate basic lesson planning for the conduct of a Montessori class.

    This includes an understanding of the teacher’s role, knowledge and skills of the teaching/learning processes and their implications for practice.

    An appreciation and understanding of the teaching aids developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.

    A knowledge of the Montessori environment and the role of an assistant Montessori teacher.

    Mode of Assessment

    A combination of Projects/Assignments.
    A practical examination – Montessori materials.  This is conducted by an external examiner from London

    How long does it take to complete?

    The course is 66 hours, combination of lectures and practical work. 

    The course can be a blended course of online lectures and onsite practical work.

    Students are given one year to complete their coursework prior to their exam but can be completed quicker, depending on number of home study hours the student can undertake.

    Students will receive awards upon successfully completing the course:

    Certificate in the Method of Montessori Education (2½ – 6 years)

  • This course is suitable for students wishing to have a basic understanding of the Montessori Philosophy.  During this course learners learn and come to understand the history of Maria Montessori, her philosophy and reasoning behind ‘’Learning by Doing’’.   Special consideration is given to the formative psychic powers of the child that leads to all-round development.  The prepared environment and materials and the role and attitude of the adult will also be looked at.

    How long does it take to complete?

    The course is 16 hours over 2 days.

    Students should have a good standard of both written and spoken English. They must be at least 17 years of age.

    Attendance at the centre

    Learners will be assessed based on the following criteria:

    End of lesson test :  At the end of each lesson within the module, learners will be asked to complete a series of short multiple-choice questions.  This is done to assess the learner’s ability and knowledge of the topics covered within all lessons.

  • This course will equip those who wish to work with very young children between 3 months and 18 months with the knowledge and skills for their effective care and management.
    The course is designed to provide care-givers and teachers working with infants and toddlers the relevant knowledge and skills that are required for the operation of infant and toddler care programmes
    During the course of study, students will explore key principles and practices that will enable them to learn how to nurture and support infants’ development from 2 months to 36 months in a centre based environment.
